DANIEL CĂPĂȚÎNĂ

Rear Admiral (LH) Daniel Căpăţînă was born in Buzău, on February 6th, 1962.
He graduated from the Military College "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" in 1980 and from the Naval Institute “Mircea cel Bătrân" in 1984.
He started his career as an artillery platoon commander within the 545th Artillery Squadron located in Mamaia and between 1985 and 1990 he fulfilled his military duties as a diving team commander in the 175th Combat Divers Squadron. Between 1990 and 1993 he attended the courses of the Naval Academy “Mircea cel Bătrân, Staff and Command Faculty. On graduation, he was appointed as the Head of the Operations Office in the 175th Combat Divers Squadron.

In 1995 he was promoted as Chief of Staff of the 175th Combat Divers Squadron. In 2001 he was appointed as Chief of Staff of the 306th Training Ships Squadron of the Naval Academy “Mircea cel Bătrân" and in 2003 he was appointed as the commanding officer of the “Delfinul" submarine. Between 2004 and 2006 he performed his duties as the officer in charge with standardization in the Romanian Naval Forces Headquarters. In 2006 he was appointed head of the Cartography Office of the Romanian Maritime Hydrographic Directory. Between 2009 and 2014 he served as the head of Traditions and Doctrine Office in the Naval Forces Headquarters.
By Chief of the General Staff `s order, he was appointed, on March 1th 2015, as the Commanding Officer of the 39th Diving Center from Constanţa.
On November 2015, he was promoted as Fleet Commander.
His professional career development started in 1985 with the Russian language Course and several specialty courses attended between 1987 and 2003, such as Navigation specialists Course in 1987, NATO Peacekeeping Operations course in 1995, and NATO Multinational Brigades Staff Officers in 1997, both in Germany, Oberamergau. In 2004 he attended the post-universitary Leadership Course and in 2010 the War-College Strategic Course, both at the National Defense University "Carol-I".

In the appreciation of his merits in the service, he was decorated with: The Honorary Emblem of the Romanian Military, The Honorary Emblem of the General Staff , The Honorary Emblem of the Naval Forces, The Merit Emblem Third Grade "In the Military Service of Romania" and the Honoray Distinction "In the country`s service" for 15, 20 and 25 years of military service, The Merit Emblem Second Grade "In the Military Service of Romania".

He is currently divorced and has two daughters, Irina – Petra and Alexandra – Florina. He fluently speaks English.
